Woman of the Year award win for Laura Anne Smith

On 20th September 2023, the Excel team and a number of our clients attended the Credit Strategy’s Women in Credit awards at The Brewery in London.

I was honoured to be shortlisted in the Woman of the Year - non-creditor category and was in great company with the other amazing women who had been shortlisted. I would like to thank my colleagues at Excel and High Court Enforcement Group for nominating me for the award, especially as I have only been back in the business since January this year.

Two winners were decided in this category and I was nominated to win the Silver Award for Woman of the Year 2023.

I would also like to congratulate Vikki Brownridge, from StepChange Debt Charity, who won the Gold Award for Woman of the Year in this category.

It was so good to see so many influential and successful women in the room, particularly as the credit industry has traditionally been more male dominated.

The conference during the day was very motivational, and a key takeout would be to encourage all the women in our industry to put themselves forward to get the recognition they deserve.

Finally, I would like to thank Excel for all the support they have given me and my female colleagues, equally with my male colleagues.
