The team at Excel is delighted that our newly launched Level 2 Award in the Use of Body Worn Video Devices (BWVD) has been endorsed by CILEx (Chartered Institute of Legal Executives).

The use of body worn video devices (BWVD) in the civil enforcement profession has become common place. It not only modifies the behaviour of the enforcement agent and the debtor alike, it also collects irrefutable evidence of what has taken place during the enforcement visit. This protects both the enforcement agent and debtor and we have seen that it has led to a reduction in complaints.

Who is this qualification designed for?

This level 2 award is designed for enforcement agents, public organisations and local authorities who use CCTV surveillance systems and BWVD. The course gives delegates the underpinning knowledge for the correct use of BWVD in line with current legislation, best practice and National Standards, extremely important in light of the House of Commons Justice Committee’s recommendation that body worn cameras will become mandatory across the civil enforcement industry.

Level 2 Award in the Use of Body Worn Video Devices incorporates:

• General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) 2018
• Freedom of Information Act (FIA) 2000
• Surveillance Camera Code of Practice issued under the Protection of Freedoms Act, 2012 (POFA)
• National Standards for Enforcement Agents (NSEA) 2014
• The Civil Enforcement Association (CIVEA) Code of Practice 2019

Assessment

At the end of the course, there is a one-hour online examination comprising 60 multiple choice questions – the pass mark is 75% (45 out of 60).
